Technology Integrationists

One of the school goals this year was “To fully integrate information and communication technology skills into the curriculum with tech/library support and resources. Rationale: Because critical inquiry is the essential component of more profound learning, students need to use information and communication tools both collaboratively and individually and to communicate various forms of information effectively.”

We separated the management and support of the software/hardware from the teaching jobs, the technology integrationists. The following is the job description for the technology integrationists.
  1. Collaborate with grade level teams to plan and develop information and communications technology scope and sequences.
  2. Track hours of technology study consistent with requirements of the PYP/MYP program.
  3. Actively collaborate with teachers to develop lessons integrating information literacy skills and technology skills.
  4. Teach, and assist teachers in teaching, specific ICT skills outlined in the CA Information and Communications Technology Standards.
  5. Collaborate with grade level teams to develop trans-disciplinary unit maps that integrate the ICT standards.
  6. Provide ideas, guidance, and support for integration of information and communications technology beyond the classroom and school day.
  7. Cooperatively plan and implement technology programs and activities that support, and enhance, the school’s program.
  8. Provide technical assistance, advice, training, and promotion of techniques, hardware and software available to teachers at CA with ICT team support
  9. Maintain and develop tools to support curricular communication
  10. Assist with administrative and organizational systems that compliment the school’s overall ICT programs and long-range plans (with the support of the CA ICT Team).
  11. Collaborate with ES/MS/HS media center/librarian when planning and developing curriculum.
  12. Meet and communicate regularly with the CA ICT Team, which includes the MS/HS educational technology specialists, to ensure articulation of skills and knowledge in respective programs.
  13. Actively support Canadian Academy’s core values, mission, and strategic objectives.
The system is working, and earned us commendations from the CIS/WASC evaluation teams when they visited last October.
